Monday

We started the day with the "talking stick", sharing our weekend adventures!  Sounds like there were lots of visits to pumpkin patches.  We will be going as a class this Friday to Sunrise Hills Farms.  Hope it doesn't rain TOO hard!

Today we talked about using a book title and the cover to predict words in the text.  We read the book "Even Monsters Need Haircuts" and based on the title of the book and what we saw on the cover, we guessed that the work monster would be inside!  We were right!

We did a fun number activity during math matching numbers to ten-frame cards with bugs.  The kindergartners practiced counting by 1's, instant recognition of quantities to 5, recognizing 1 more, seeing quantities in relationship to 5 and to 10, and matching sets and numerals.

We worked on a predictable chart.  The students dictated what they will be for Halloween.  and we "touch read" our sentences.  Tomorrow we will "build" sentences and then we will glue our words down and illustrate our sentences to make a class book.  I already know it will become a favorite book!

The kindergartners heard wonderful stories from Ms. Pool in the Library today!
