We are are learning to stretch out our words and listen to the sounds of the letters so we can write them down! It's wonderful watching these kindergartners figure that out and then writing actual words or (close approximations). We are practicing thinking through a familiar routine by discussing the steps in order using first, next, last. We played a fun game following three-step directions moving around the room. I read a version of "The Little Red Hen" with very funny photographs, and we did an activity sequencing pictures in the order they happened in the story.
Before we made new calendar markers - ladybugs and spiders - we read a beautiful book "Beetle Bop" by Denise Fleming. She has a great website with lots of information and activities. We also looked at this video on YouTube!
